What does this plugin do?

ACF Scout scans your site and shows you exactly where every ACF field and field group is actually being used.

For each field it shows which posts/pages/products use it, and where the current active theme (and optionally plugin) files reference it via:

• get_field()
• the_field()
• get_sub_field()
• have_rows()
• any shortcode usage
• whether it’s exposed via the REST API
• the field group’s last-modified date

Fields that show up in none of the above as flagged as Unused.

Who is this plugin for?

This plugin is for anyone maintaining a WordPress site built on ACF (or ACF Pro) or Secure Custom Fields who’s lost track of which fields are still doing anything.

This is especially useful if you:

• Have inherited an undocumented site
• Want to safely clean up unused fields before a rebuild
• Need to check the blast radius before deleting or renaming a field
• Are auditing REST API exposure.

How to use the plugin

Install and activate it alongside a free or paid version of Advanced Custom Fields (ACF).

Go to ACF  → ACF Scout and click Scan Now (tick “Also scan the plugins directory” if you want that included), then browse the results across the three tabs.

Use the All/In Use/Unused filter on the Fields & Groups tab to spot clean-up candidates, click a file count to see exactly which files reference a field, and re-run the scan after making changes since results are cached until the next scan.

Does it work with Secure Custom Fields?

Yes, this plugin will function exactly the same with Secure Custom Fields.
