Deregistering a domain
Deregistering a domain removes the associated license key from a specific site, allowing the plugin to be activated on another domain, or reactivated on the same site again if needed.
This process clears the domain record from the license server, effectively resetting the activation status for that installation.
Common use cases include:
- Moving the plugin to a new domain
- Rebuilding your website with a fresh database
- Transferring site ownership without sharing your license
- Switching from a staging or development environment to production
There are two ways to deregister a domain
From the Rocket Apps website:
- Login and go to the Activated Domains page
- Locate the domain linked to your plugin
- Click the Deregister icon in the far-right column
- Confirm the action when prompted
- Wait for the success confirmation message
From the plugin interface:
- Go to the License section of the plugin settings on your website
- Click the Deregister button next to the license key field
The process usually completes within seconds, though due to server side caching it may take a few minutes to fully update on the server. Once done, you can activate the plugin on a different domain or reuse it on the same one.
Deregistering a domain does not affect the license status or expiry date.
